According to customs statistics, mold exports reached 740 million US dollars in 2005, an increase of over 50% year-on-year; The structure of mold products is becoming more high-end, and the share of complex, precise, and long-life molds has increased to 30%. At present, there are more than 30000 mold manufacturers in China, with over 800000 employees. The annual mold output value reached 53.4 billion yuan. A group of mold industry leaders have emerged, such as FAW molds in the field of automotive panels.

There is a huge market space for molds in China. In 2006, the domestic automobile industry maintained a growth rate of 15%, with sales reaching 6.4 million units. The market for automotive parts is larger than that of complete vehicles, and the rapid development of the mold industry that provides equipment for automotive parts is evident. A model of car requires thousands of molds. Among them, there are hundreds of sets of casting molds. The automotive industry is one of the five pillar industries of China's national economy. The focus of the automotive industry is to develop components, economical sedans, and heavy-duty vehicles. As a key development focus, automotive molds have been recognized in the automotive industry policy.
